Smaller and more accurate sensors that will be able to combine the function of a speedometer, accelerometers, stride sensors, dynamometers, pedometers, goniometers and weight distribution at the same time. The sensors would be durable, waterproof/sweat proof, flexible and reliable.
Smart Fabric
Currently shape memory textiles respond to heat, moisture or electricity to change, and the response is not instant. But for the Smart sock these textiles need to respond to movement to be activated in real time and constantly change during the walking cycle. Even though we do have some shape memory polymers they are not very durable, flexible, or washable. It is also uses lots of energy and power for the cooling and heating systems. This can make it very uncomfortable and hot to wear.
Charging
Resonant Magnetic Wireless Power Transfer: Today, for this technology to work, you need to be close to the power source, therefore, the RMWPT needs to evolve to allow for better time use and improve so it can be used for longer distances.
