Summary

Photosensitive Epilepsy is a brain disorder that often leads to seizures due to bright or flashing lights. Ever since its discovery, many therapies have been created to help reduce triggered seizures. Today, we are thinking of creating a new treatment that involves contact lenses.

Bromide Discovered

The first antiepileptic drug, Bromide is discovered in 1854.

Light Induced Seizures

In 1881, Gowers first described seizures caused by bright lights.

Contact Lenses Production

Transparent plastic poly methacrylate contacts were introduced to the U.S in 1936.

New Therapies Developed

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation was developed in 1985.

Vagus Nerve Stimulation approved in the USA in 1997.

Modern Contacts

In 2010, Myopia Control Contacts were made by Johnson & Johnson.

Responsive Neurostimulation was approved by the FDA in 2013.

Darkening Contacts

Photochromic Contacts were created in 2019 by Johnson & Johnson.

Drug-Delivery Contacts

Anti-allergy contacts were created by Johnson & Johnson in 2021.
