Impacts

It is anticipated that with the introduction of this technology, a new era of scientific discovery and advancement will occur, revolving around space. With the arrival the Mag-Launcher, the amount of material able to be shipped will increase many times over, and so will the rate of progress. Bigger and better space stations, probes, and rovers will suddenly become plausible. Scientific experiments requiring very large equipment can be performed. Although humans cannot be sent into space using the Mag-Launcher, materials needed to build devices and spaceships in orbit can be transported. Astronauts, carried from other manned spacecrafts, can use these devices and spaceships to hopefully travel to other planets.

With this influx of knowledge, it is very possible that human life will change. On a small scale, new inventions and technologies will improve the quality of life. Research may yield new materials that could only be discovered in low gravity. However, in the grand scheme of things, the hope that space travel might actually become reality is what is truly significant. With the capability to send more material into space, humans might, for the first time, be able to visit other planets.

However, there may also be some adverse effects. Focusing on space exploration may shift resources away from other equally, if not more, important issues. Poverty, climate change, and the like may not receive the support and attention needed. Instead, powerful countries would compete for the advantage in space, and the gap would widen between them and the countries/people in need of help.

Ultimately, the Mag-Launcher will be great for the scientific community and humanity as a whole, but these benefits will come with political and social issues.
