What is Plastivore Trashcan
The Plastivore Trashcan is an environmentally friendly trashcan desgined to degrade plastic waste efficiently and safely using enzymes collected from different plastic eating bacteria and fungi. This trashcan has five different compartments.
Compartments of our
Plastivore Trashcan
The Oxy Tablet consists of the enzymes Demetra and Ceres collected from the saliva of Galleria mellonella [Waxworm}. This enzyme helps to oxidize plastic.
Plastic Waste Compartment: This compartment receives the plastic waste and weighs the content. If there is more plastic than the trashcan could degrade or if there is any non-plastic waste, this compartment would indicate the same.
Shredding Compartment: This compartment shreds the plastic that is received.
Oxidation Compartment: This compartment takes in an Oxy tablet and oxidizes the shredded plastic. A motor present in this compartment will rotate the cylindrical drum to mix the oxidizing enzymes with the plastic.
Degradation Compartment: This compartment takes in a PEBET tablet and degrades the oxidized plastic. A motor present in this compartment will rotate the cylindrical drum to mix the PEBET tablet with the oxidized plastic.
Glycol Excretion Compartment: This compartment collects the ethylene glycol that is produced during plastic degradation. Sodium bicarbonate pods are made to react with this ethylene glycol to produce sodium acetate, carbon dioxide, and water which can be disposed safely.
PEBET is a cocktail of enzymes such as PETase, MHETase,
Esterase, Lipase and Cutinase collected from different plastic eating bacteria and fungi.
