The iSWARM system takes advantage of many breakthroughs  to provide extremely miniaturized electronics/sensors and drones, a 10x or better improvement in system battery life and charging performance, a 10x or better improvement in standard solar power technologies, and the concept of biodegradable and/or disposable electronics.

Micro-ElectroMechanical Sensors (MEMS) are the basic technology behind many of today's miniaturized electronic devices, especially those with moving parts. Major MEMS advances allow for the creation of a tiny drone platform so that the WASP can be built small, strong and low-cost.

Breakthroughs in solar technologies can already demonstrate the ability to double the solar efficiency of current solar cells. 10x battery capacity, size, and service life improvements are reasonable future expectations from which tomorrow's version of the iSWARM system can benefit.
