What's in store for our technology:

Future Technology  
• Our project will create a safe and efficient source of clean drinkable water, yet filter out and destroy microplastics  
• By combining coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, and Ideonella sakaiensis we are able to filter water and destroy microplastics within it  
• Before the coagulation, we must remove or destroy the microplastics in the water. We use a bacterium called Ideonella sakaiensis to do so.  
• Ideonella sakaiensis can be genetically modified allowing it to survive in water, once it is in the water it would eat all the microplastics that would commonly end up polluting the environment  
• The Coagulation Filtration System is powered by powerful solar batteries that can store energy for a rainy day and remove the need for electrical infrastructure  
• We use organic coagulants such as Polyamine and PolyDADMAC to bind to the particles in the water
