THE CURRENT USE OF TECHNOLOGY
AND LIMITATIONS OF TODAY'S TECHNOLOGY

Current uses of our Technology:

ā€¢ Coagulation is currently used in water filtration and blood clot testing. When used in water filtration, it often goes hand in hand with flocculation and sedimentation.

- Flocculation is currently used in water treatment.  Once the water reaches a treatment plant it receives chemicals with a positive charge, the chemicals bond to the negatively charged dirt particles and debris in the water. This is the flocculation. Afterwards the water sediments and sinks to the bottom.

Limitations of Todayā€™s Technology:

ā€¢ Availability is the most significant limitation on todayā€™s water filtration technology. Current water filtration systems are designed to be connected to electricity and plumbing, which many people lack.

- 5 million people die every year from not having clean water, and many become sick. It is clear there are many limitations to todayā€™s water filtration.

- A study from 2006 showed that 7 out of 10 people who do not have access to clean water live in a rural setting. Many current water filtration plants are in more populated urban areas, which can make it hard for people in rural areas to get clean water.
