H I S T O R Y 

Seizures were first noted down in Mesopotamia, in a 4000 year old tablet.
Seizures were believed to be caused by malevolent spirits, and could be cured through spiritual intervention. This sentiment still rings true in some places around the globe.

In the 5th century, Hippocrates believed they had a connection to the brain. 17th century doctors, inspired by this, took to preforming surgery, removing "brain stones" or stones of foolishness from the brain.

Thanks to the invention of the EEG in the 30's, doctors were able to confirm that seizures are caused by abnormalities by the discharge of neurons in the brain.

Current treatment ranges from keto diets to AED's (anti-epileptic drugs), surgery, and or vagus nerve stimulation, which is provided if all other methods fail.

Forecasting has also come to the forefront of treatment for epilepsy.  For example, Embrace2 uses detects possible seizures using electrodermal sensors, temperature sensors and more. Better detection of seizures provides better treatment, and provide a better quality of life.

The Problem

Epilepsy is a brain disorder that causes reoccurring seizures. They are caused by uncontrollable and abnormal electrical signals to the brain.
