Use of iPSCs in Alzheimer’s Disease Brain Inflammation

Impact

Our technology restores normal immune function, allowing the brain to more effectively fight against amyloid plaques.

One roadblock in the development of AD treatment is the presence of CBI, which significantly hinders attempts at clearing the plaques. This technology would open the doors to both new treatments and the increased potency of existing ones.

AD affects every aspect of both the patient's life and the lives around them. By slowing the progression of Alzheimer's, more than 7 million Americans can live longer, healthier, and happier lives.

Benefits

Benefits of this method:

  • Permutant incorporation into brain.

  • Doesn’t disrupt cell functions.

  • Doesn’t have special patient requirements.

  • No lifestyle changes.

  • Tackles core issue of CBI.

  • Increased IL-2 shown to grow treg expansion.

Breakthroughs

Breakthroughs needed for future technology include:

  • Increased genetic stability of IPSCs to prevent mutations.

  • Research into possible cross talk (overlapping) of synthetic signaling.

  • pathways with natural ones.

  • More research into a reliable method of bypassing the blood-brain-barrier (BBB).
