Fungi Fabrics
The Future of Fashion.
About Us
Co-founded by Jenna Farwaha, Georgina Angelov, and Nia White, Fungi Fabrics has created an ecological product that is exceptional at reducing CO2 emissions, clean water pollution, and cleaning toxic waste in soils and waters. Within the next 20 years, we intend to reduce pollution caused by textiles significantly, and ultimately aid in reversing the negative effects humanity has had on our planet.
Product of the Future
Providing a more environmentally friendly alternative to textile fabric, our concept calls for the production of fabric using the mycelium of fungi. Mycelium, or the mushroom's root, possesses insulating and moisture-absorbing qualities akin to cotton fibers and is woven into a network that mimics cloth. Fungi, in contrast to cotton and cellulose, are found all over the world and do not need to rely on sunlight or arable land to flourish. They rely on absorption to obtain their food while coexisting with other creatures in symbiosis or as parasites or reducers. To grow sheets of this, we must use a substrate that contains a large number of sugars for the fungi sheet to be durable and evenly grown.
