Hearing loss is one of the most widespread human diseases. According to the World Health Organization:

In 2019, over 1.5 billion people experienced some
form of hearing loss.
By 2050, 1 in 4 people – 2.5 billion – will experience hearing loss.

Currently, the primary methods of treatment for hearing loss are cochlear implants and hearing aids, which are often only partially effective. Drug prescription is an alternative method of hearing protection and restoration, but currently, no drug treatments have passed clinical trial.
