By 2050 there will be more plastic in the oceans than there are fish (by weight).
-
About 8 million metric tons of plastic are thrown into the ocean annually.

There are five massive patches of plastic in the oceans around the world. These huge concentrations of plastic debris cover large swaths of the ocean; in fact the one between California and Hawaii called the Great Pacific Garbage Patch is the size of the state of Texas.
The autonomous pollution control drone (APCD) technology creates a fish drone which can autonomously work using power from solar panels and by combining mechanical and biological means to reduce plastic pollution in the oceans.
