Breakdown biodegradable plastic products

  • The APCD project drone will be designed like a fish which can be used in the oceans and seas to clean up plastic pollution.
  • The drone will be equipped with a GPS tracker which can detect the plastic pollution and then go to the areas of plastic pollution.
  • The fish will have two chambers. In the first chamber the fish drone will ingest the plastic which will be reduced by mechanical means (crushing and motors) to reduce it to small pieces.
  • When the plastic is of a sufficient small size, it will be moved to chamber two where there will be bacteria, Ideonella sakaiensis 201-F6 which can digest plastic into smaller constituents and carbon molecules thereby biodegrading it which can be used as food for fishes.
  • To ensure that the device is autonomous, there will be solar panels at the top of the fish drone. The drone will come up once every 24 hours to recharge their batteries.
  • To ensure the fish drone is not eaten by other large fishes, the drone will have sensors which will send electric impulses to scare off larger fish if they come too close.
